I am excited to announce that my campaign had received the endorsement of the Boards of Advocates of Planned Parenthood of the St. Louis Region and Southwest Missouri, and Planned Parenthood Great Plains Votes.
My background in healthcare has informed me on sexual and reproductive health needs. I recognize the valuable services that Planned Parenthood has to offer, and I will protect a woman's right to choose and the full range of birth control.
It is with great pride that I announce that I am the 2018 PROMO PAC endorsed candidate for the 60th district of the Missouri State House.
PROMO is Missouri's statewide organization dedicated to LGBTQ advocacy through legislative action. My endorsement has been approved based on my pro-equality responses to the 2018 PROMO PAC Candidate Survey, my commitment to LGBTQ equality as a candidate, and my history as a dedicated advocate for equality in the community.
I am honored to be a voice for LGBTQ equality in the 60th district and in Jefferson City. Thank you, PROMO, for your endorsement of the Kevin Nelson for Missouri campaign!
From July 30 to August 4, the Kevin Nelson for Missouri campaign will have an indoor informational booth at the Jefferson City Jaycees Cole County Fair. We will be set up from 5:00 to 9:00 PM every evening of the fair. Admission to the fair is free on July 30, $10 July 31 through August 2, and $15 August 3 and 4. This will be a great opportunity for me and my team of volunteers to meet you, the voters, and answer your questions about my campaign and my vision for Missouri.
I'm also looking for volunteers to staff my booth at the Cole County Fair. If you would like to join me--especially on Saturday, August 4--click here to sign up.
Several people expressed concerns over the original theme for the Cole County Fair: "Making It Great Again." I understand those concerns: It is reminiscent of a political slogan that represents a divisive and volatile climate in America. The Jaycees have removed this theme name from the fair, but people may still have worries about what the fair represents for Cole County. So, what does "making it great again" mean to me? It means three things:
I'm proud to announce that I have been endorsed as a ProgressWomen 2018 Blue Torch Candidate. They have recognized me as someone who has stepped up to run as a truly progressive candidate.
ProgressWomen is focused on civil rights, equality, and justice for both women and men. The issues they champion include reproductive justice, ending the epidemic of gun violence, equality for LGBT citizens, pay equity, immigration rights, and much more. Based on the answers I gave to their survey and the first bill I plan on introducing - raising the minimum wage in Missouri - ProgressWomen chose to endorse me.
Thank you, ProgressWomen, for your support of Kevin Nelson for Missouri State Representative in District 60! I look forward to working with you and for you as we move Missouri forward.
We've had a busy week on the campaign trail! Jefferson City's annual Independence Day celebration, Salute to America, was a lot of fun. The theme this year was celebrating diversity, and I was happy to not only meet a diverse population of people, but also to have a diverse group of volunteers. We marched in the parade on July 3 and set up a booth on July 4. It was a wonderful opportunity to meet voters and their families and let them know about my values and how I want to work for real Missourians. Have a look at the photo galleries from the parade and from my booth!

It gives me great pleasure to announce that I have been endorsed by Our Revolution Mid-Missouri. This endorsement came from a vote of their general membership, so it is a huge honor.
Our Revolution Mid-Missouri's mission statement is, "We shall work in the furtherance of economic, political, social, racial and environmental justice through education, direct action, and political engagement." This organization's platform includes keeping big money out of politics and putting the power back in the hands of the people...values that I hold close to my heart. Along with Our Revolution, I am a supporter of the CLEAN Missouri Initiative because we need to increase integrity and transparency in Missouri's government.
Thank you Our Revolution Mid-Missouri for endorsing the Kevin Nelson for Missouri campaign! I look forward to furthering your mission of accountability as the State Representative for Missouri's 60th District.
I am incredibly proud to announce that my campaign has been given the Moms Demand Action Gun Sense Candidate distinction.
Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America is a grassroots movement of Americans fighting for new and stronger solutions to lax gun laws and loopholes. Since its inception after the tragedy at Sandy Hook School, Moms Demand Action has established a chapter in every state of the country and, along with Mayors Against Illegal Guns and the Everytown Survivor Network, is part of Everytown for Gun Safety, the largest gun violence prevention organization in the country with more than four million supporters.
My campaign's focus is on people, and standing up for gun violence prevention and recognizing gun safety is a key part of that. As a state representative, I will continue to push for the state of Missouri to have gun laws that keep us safe.
I'm fortunate to have so many supporters already as we race to the primary on August 7. Knowing that I have your vote motivates me to do my best job as I represent you in the Missouri Capitol. Now, I need a little help from you, my friends.
One of the easiest ways you can support me as I run for Missouri State Representative is to place a yard sign in your front lawn. This shows your neighborhood who you believe the best candidate for the job is. When you request your yard sign, we will come "plant" it in your yard for you...there's no need for you to come pick it up.
By filling out one request form that takes a few seconds to fill out, you can easily influence hundreds of voters...will you do me the honor of displaying one of my yard signs?
As a candidate for Missouri State Representative, I know that a campaign is only as good as its volunteers. We have a lot of good Democrats in the Jefferson City area who want to see positive changes in the Capitol. That's why I want to cordially invite you to a volunteer rally and training on May 19.
We will provide training on how to go door-to-door and teach voters about the campaign and how to vote. Rose and I will provide breakfast refreshments. Afterward, we will start pounding the pavement and knocking on doors!
